Tomorrow I leave him

When I sat down to write this blog, I was gonna write about the adventures Little Man and I had last week.  It was gonna be all up beat and fun.  I was gonna share all the fun we had.  However, I am just not feeling it.   First pic of me and my son.  You see I got the call.  "Mrs. Spear, my wife is in labor.  She will need you to fill in for her now."  "Ok, I'll be there Monday morning." So much to think about.  While I am excited about this going back to work idea, I am very sorry to leave Little Man.  I have had the great privilege to have 6 full months and a week to be a full time stay at home mom.    First Bath It has been wonderful and exhausting.  Lovely and inspiring.  Crazy and calm at the same time.  First Car Ride So tiny and small. Oh the love.  One week old. One Month Old  Back in October, the school I will be working at called and asked me to cover a long term position in Kindergarten.  It would start in January and end

Top Ten Lessons of being a Stay at Home Mom

I realize that I have only been a stay at home mom for a short amount of time.  I realize there are moms out there who have logged hundreds of more hours than me.  However, in my very short experience I have learned somethings.  Here are my top ten, right now. 1. A good night sleep is no longer measured in hours it is measured in how many times I have gotten up to feed Little Man.  I can be "in bed" for 12 hours but if I fed him every two hours that was a terrible night.  A great night sleep would be being in bed for 6 hours and only have to feed him once.  It is not the length of time I am in bed that matters anymore. His new favorite toy.  Thanks Uncle Rob and Aunt Debbie. 2.  I have realized who those extremely rude and inconsiderate people are that leave their stupid shopping carts in the middle of a parking space.  Before Little Man, I would murmur and mutter under my breath, "Seriously, people.  How hard is it to walk 15 feet over to the cart corral and park t

Friends and Family

My Main Man and I moved to Ohio a year and a half ago.  Moving somewhere new is always hard.  Especially as adults.  Every time we move we have to start all over.  We have to find a new church.  We have to find a new grocery store.  We have to figure out how to get around a new grocery store.  We have to find a new gas station with the best deals on gas.  We have to find a new farmer's market to buy fresh produce.  All of these are hard to find.  However, the hardest for us to find is friends as amazing as the ones we had in North Carolina.  Where do adults go to find friends? This weekend we had a few of those amazing friends from North Carolina visit us.  It was an amazing weekend.  Full of laughter.  The crescendo of laughter filled every corner of our house.  From the kitchen to the crib.  We laughed so hard we woke up Little Man at 11 pm.  He could not go back to sleep till 12:30 am because he knew we had started the party without him.  My house was filled with warmth and joy

Dear Little Man

Dear Little Man, I just finished rocking you to sleep.  I couldn't help it.  All the books say just to let you fall asleep on your own, which you can do now.  You are a rock star at putting yourself to sleep, now.  But today, I wanted those snuggles.  The look on your face as you drift into dream world is so precious.  You bring your dad and me so much joy.   You after your dedication on Christmas Day.  You are currently 5.5 months old.  Changing every day.  Right now my favorite thing to do with you is a game called, "I'm going to get your belly."  We play this all the time.  If you are fussing while I am cooking I can say, "I'm going to get your belly."  You immediately start smiling which is soon followed by laughter.  You love this game. You were so exhausted you just kept right on sleeping. You spend the time I am making dinner tucked in your high chair.  You watch what goes on while you chuck toys on the floor.  You just learned last night
