Memorial Day

I was raised in a small suburb of Chicago.  Even though it was in the middle of all the suburban hub bub, it had a very small town feel.  There is  a homecoming parade which people come out to see.  There is a main street where there are picturesque antique shops.   The beach laps up to the shore just down the hill from main street.  I did not fully appreciate my small town while growing up there. I could not wait to get out and spread my wings and fly.  Now looking back I realize, in some ways I grew up in a Norman Rockwell painting.  Although I have no desire to ever move back there (winter there sucks) it was the perfect place to grow up. One of the fond memories I have is of memorial day.  There is a full out parade with the marching band, fire trucks, convertibles, etc.  We would try to make it every year.  I say try because the running joke in my family was, "We have to hurry, if we are late we will miss it."...

My Uncle "from" China

Yesterday was a great day.  My Uncle Jay who came from China but  is not from China came to visit for just a day.  I had not seen him since the week I was born.  Which I don't remember this visit at all.  However, after 30 minutes to an hour, I knew I loved my Uncle.  He is the greatest uncle from China but is not from China ever.   I got to play soccer with my Uncle Jay.  We went to lunch with my Uncle Jay.  Then we got my cousin Sweetie and all of us went to the Desert Museum.  It was very hot and bright. My Uncle Jay was very concerned about me.  He made sure I had sunscreen and would pull Sweetie and I backwards in our stroller so the sun would never hit our fair skin.    My Uncle Jay made sure I saw lots of things.  He'd tell my mom and dad to point me to this animal or that animal.  My Uncle Jay really loves me. Lewis County Pride

Dear Nana and Pawdy, Recently I have truly enjoyed your gifts.  Yesterday I spent half an hour "reading" the record-able book you gave me.  As you can see I really had to concentrate hard on the book. Sometimes I get the book upside down.  It still plays just fine. I have also learned that it is fun to try and eat breakfast with my feet.  Have you ever tried it?  It is challenging.  My mom likes it because the only way to get me unwedged is for mom to help me out of the chair.  This means I can't try to climb out of that tall red chair.  I am stuck in there. Thanks also for the new tshirt you sent.  Daddy was so excited he made me wear it right away.  Mom got mad cuz she wants to save it for when it fits me right.  Dad says why can't big be the right fit now.   Mom told me she wanted some pictures for you.  So I posed for her.  Do you see the above one had hand?...
